"I Wish I Knew How To Quit You"[]
Last night’s BlueBell Film Society’s screening of “Brokeback Mountain” was absolutely splendid. Oh, what a film! Heath, Jake, Michelle, Anne, Randy Quaid! It still boils my blood when I think that “Crash” beat it for Best Picture. The Academy certainly got it wrong that year (as they did in 1977 when “Rocky” beat “Network.” Don’t get me wrong, “Rocky” is good but it’s no “Network!”).
Anyway, it was nice to see so many BlueBellians show up to the screening. And let me tell you this, there was not a dry eye in the house! Really. I myself was crying like a baby. Audible weeps were heard. I happened to see Coach Scott, our very own CLJJ HS football coach, wiping tears from his face. Mayor Lavon Hayes also seemed a bit choked up. He had to excuse himself when the film ended. You know, that’s the best part about living in BlueBell. It’s like we’re all one big family and therefore showing our true emotions with each other is welcomed. We don’t judge!
I’m still trying to decide what March’s screening will be. Anyone have any suggestions?
