Reginald VelJohnson (born August 16, 1952) recurs as Bluebell, Alabama's resident blogger, event host (often, even a judge), and culture conossieur, Dash DeWitt in The CW's new series "Hart of Dixie," a fish-out-of-water story about a New York City doctor (Rachel Bilson) adjusting to life in a small Southern town after she inherits a local medical practice.

VelJohnson was born in Queens, New York, the son of Eve, a nurse, and Adam Johnson, a hospital attendant. His father left the family when VelJohnson was 13 years old and his mother subsequently married John Reilly. In high school, he was classmates with formaer CIA director George Tenet , and porn star Ron Jeremy . VelJohnson obtained a Bachelor of Arts from New York University.

He is an African American film, stage and television actor, best known for his role as Carl Winslow on the sitcom Family Matters (where he was the only cast member to appear in every episode), as well as his portrayal of Sgt. Al Powell in Die Hard and Die Hard 2 . He has made guest appearances in several shows, including The Equalizer , Diagnosis: Murder , Twice in a Lifetime , Will & Grace , Monk , CSI: Crime Scene Investigation , Eve , Crossing Jordan , The Parkers , That's So Raven , Chuck , in which he reprises his role as Al Powell, and Bones .
