Wade and Vivian knew of each other through school rivalries. Wade mentions that he knew Vivian used to be on the debate team, had braces and could skate backwards at the roller rink when they ran into each other at a Danielle Bradberry concert. Vivian is Zoe’s cousin who holds distain for Zoe for ignoring the family for two years. Zoe invites Vivian to dinner that night where she runs into Wade again. After their first date Vivian asked Zoe about Wade and ignored him because of Zoe's experience with him. They eventually went out again and continued their relationship. Vivian ultimately breaks up with Wade when her ex-husband decides he wants to get back together with her and gets a job out of town.
